Press Release Sushi Ran wins Trends & Innovations Award at Sial Trade Show in Paris

Paris, 18 October 2010 - The Trends & Innovations Award of the Sial Trade Show, which takes place from 17 to 21 October 2010, has been given to Sushi Ran, which won the award for its new product, the Ricewich.

An international panel has assessed nearly 1000 submissions from 41 countries for innovation, originality, quality and market potential. Fifteen products from six countries were selected from the many submissions; they were given the prestigious Trends & Innovations Award in different product categories.

The development of the Ricewich took more than two years. Hiroshi Tsujimaru, Director of Sushi Ran: "The fact that this product has won an international award means a lot to our company. Now that we've won this award, we are confident that the further introduction in the European market will also be successful."

The company has developed the Ricewich in response to the changing needs and lifestyle of the current consumer, and it therefore meets the demand for healthy convenience food. The Ricewich consists of two lightly grilled, triangular rice slices with different fillings. It can serve as lunch or a snack, it has been inspired by Japanese sushi, and it replaces the traditional sandwich. The product is available in four varieties: tempura shrimps, two chicken varieties, and one vegetable tempura.

The introduction of the Ricewich fits within the Sushi Ran policy, which focuses on the production of high-quality, authentic Japanese products. Sushi Ran is the largest producer of fresh sushi in the Benelux countries, and it has been active on the Dutch, Belgian and Luxembourg markets for more than twenty years. In that period, Sushi Ran has developed into a modern production company which makes traditional Japanese sushi. Sushi is a typical Japanese speciality which is increasingly common in Europe and is winning in popularity year after year.
